Essential Apps Guide

What to install and test

"Installed" doesn't mean "ready." You need to actually open each app, log in, link your card, and make sure it works before you're standing in a Chinese airport with no Wi-Fi.

What to do

  1. 1

Open every essential app at least once before you fly. Log in, poke around, find the main function.

  2. 2

Complete any verification the app asks for: phone number, ID, card linking, selfie. Do it on good internet.

  3. 3

Switch to English if available. Learn where the "pay" or "scan" button is.

  4. 4

Screenshot the successful setup state. If something resets, you'll know what "working" looked like.

Double-check before you rely on this

  • You can log in without needing a verification code sent to a number that won't work abroad.

  • Payment and booking apps show your current account (not a login screen).

  • You know which tasks might still need staff help after landing (like SIM activation).
