Arrival point choices
Save the exact arrival point: Shenzhen Bao’an Airport (SZX), a named land checkpoint or the railway station on your ticket. Futian Checkpoint and Futian station are different places.- For SZX, the airport’s guide lists Metro Line 11 at Airport station. Airport East is a different station; match the station name to the terminal.
- If arriving from Hong Kong by land, check the specific checkpoint’s current opening arrangements and your entry requirements separately before travel.
- Futian Checkpoint connects with Lines 4 and 10. Do not route yourself to Futian station just because both names contain Futian.
- Save your hotel’s Chinese address and district. Nanshan, Futian and Luohu are separate areas; choose a route to the actual hotel branch.
Airport or border to hotel
Use the transport connection for your actual arrival point. Airport station, Futian Checkpoint and Luohu start on different metro lines; compare their full routes to your hotel.- From SZX, compare Line 11 from Airport station with the official taxi queue or confirmed pickup. The best option depends on the hotel station, luggage and current service.
- From Futian Checkpoint, check Lines 4 and 10 against the hotel route. This is not Futian station.
- From Luohu, check Line 1 and any onward transfer. Read the direction and final station rather than choosing a transfer only by district name.
- For a late arrival, check the checkpoint or airport connection and every onward train. Do not assume the whole metro network closes at one fixed time.
- For a taxi, confirm the Chinese hotel address, payment and local fare basis before departure. Check the current pickup location if booking through an app.
Weather and clothing
Check the forecast and any weather warnings for Shenzhen on your actual arrival day. Pack for the outdoor parts of the terminal-to-hotel journey, including queues and the final walk.- Check the forecast shortly before departure and again on arrival, including weather warnings that may affect transport.
- Keep a suitable layer and any rain protection in your carry-on so you can reach them before opening your suitcase.
- Choose shoes you can walk in with luggage. Check whether the hotel route includes uncovered sections.
- If weather disrupts the route, ask the operator or hotel about current options rather than relying on a seasonal average.
First evening plan
Check in, eat somewhere nearby, charge your devices and save tomorrow’s first route. Choose a meal by its current opening time, menu and your dietary needs.- Check in and put your bags down before adding another destination.
- Ask the hotel about nearby places currently serving food. Check the menu, price and payment method before ordering.
- Charge your phone, power bank, and everything else. Tomorrow you'll need them all day for navigation and payment.
- Save tomorrow’s first destination and check the complete route before sleeping.
