China Payment Setup: Alipay, WeChat Pay, Cards and Cash: Backup payment paths
A useful backup survives the failure of your first method. Two apps on the same uncharged phone are not a complete plan for reaching the hotel.

Ask the hotel which methods it accepts for room charges and deposits, whether it needs a physical card, and the amount to reserve. Save the answer.

Carry the physical card you plan to use and confirm the issuer’s overseas and ATM rules. Keep it separately accessible from your phone.

Plan how to obtain RMB: check an ATM for your card-network logo or use an authorized exchange service. Availability, withdrawal limits and fees depend on the location and issuer.

Budget cash from your actual arrival route, meal and hotel requirements; do not use a universal amount for every trip.

Save the hotel’s Chinese name, full address and phone number offline, together with a route you can pay for if the wallet is unavailable.

You know how to reach the hotel if your phone has no usable data or power.
Any deposit does not consume all the money available for the rest of the evening.
