Airport to hotel

After a long flight, pick the easiest route, not the cheapest or most interesting. From Pudong, that usually means a taxi or the Maglev + metro combo.

What to do

  1. 1

From Pudong: Taxi ¥150-250 to central Shanghai (50-70min). Maglev to Longyang Rd ¥50 (8min! runs roughly 6:45-21:30, check current schedule) then Line 2 metro. Or metro Line 2 all the way (¥7-9, 60-80min but crowded with luggage).

  2. 2

From Hongqiao: Metro Line 2/10 to most central areas (¥4-6, 20-40min). Taxi ¥50-100. Much easier than Pudong.

  3. 3

If you're unsure about anything, just take a taxi from the official queue. Follow signs for 出租车 (chūzūchē). Simple and stress-free.

  4. 4

Keep the hotel phone number ready. If the driver can't find it, call the hotel and hand him the phone. This actually works.

Double-check before you rely on this

  • Payment is ready before you leave the terminal.

  • Hotel address pin matches your booking (double-check the district).

  • You have time buffer if your flight arrives late.
