Train Booking Guide

Real-name basics

Every train ticket in China is tied to your passport. The name on the ticket must match the passport you bring to the station. No passport = no train.

What to do

  1. 1

Use exactly the same passport details when booking: full name, passport number, nationality. No nicknames.

  2. 2

Double-check spelling and middle names before you pay. A typo can mean you can't board.

  3. 3

Bring the actual physical passport you used to book. A photo of it won't work.

  4. 4

Save your order number and train details (date, time, train number, seat) as a screenshot.

Double-check before you rely on this

  • The booking platform accepted your passport info (some show a verification status).

  • Your passport is in your bag, not packed in checked luggage or left at the hotel.

  • If you're traveling with others, everyone has their own correct passport info on their ticket.
